ANDREA SCAFFARDI
Andrea Scaffardi is currently the Principal Clarinetist of the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra. He previously held the same position with the Malmö Symphony Orchestra and has appeared as a guest with the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich, the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, the Danish National Symphony Orchestra, and Teatro alla Scala, among others.
Born in Parma in 1990, Andrea Scaffardi began his musical studies at the “A. Boito” Conservatory in his hometown, graduating summa cum laude and honorary mention. He then continued his studies at the “A. Peri” Conservatory in Reggio Emilia, once again graduating summa cum laude, honorable mention, and receiving the “A. Del Rio” Prize for the best diploma of the year. While still a student, he won the audition to join the Accademia del Teatro alla Scala, marking the beginning of his orchestral career.
In recent seasons, he has appeared as a soloist in Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto with La Toscanini, Stravinsky’s Ebony Concerto with the Malmö Symphony Orchestra conducted by Robert Trevino, Nielsen’s Clarinet Concerto under Ryan Bancroft, Debussy’s Première Rhapsodie conducted by Fabien Gabel and again Nielsen’s Clarinet Concerto with the Orchestra del Teatro Massimo Bellini in Catania. Several of these performances were broadcast nationwide on SR Sveriges Radio.
Alongside his orchestral, chamber music, and solo activities, Andrea Scaffardi is regularly invited to give masterclasses in Italy, Sweden, and Norway.
