Founded in 2025 and directed by pianist Romolo Ludovico Lanza, the Mediterraneo Chamber Music Festival was created through the collaboration of the Accademia Musicale Mediterranea, the cultural associations Cultura Mediterranea and Euterpe, with the patronage of the Municipality of Pulsano.
Mediterraneo was born from the desire to bring chamber music into the symbolic places of art and history, giving it a living, accessible, and contemporary dimension.
The project seeks to broaden the perception of this repertoire, engaging new generations of listeners and a diverse audience through immersive, high-quality musical experiences.
At the heart of the Festival lies the idea of music as a space for encounter and dialogue between cultures: an international setting where different traditions intertwine, encouraging artistic and human exchange between Northern and Southern Europe. Within this vision, the Mediterranean becomes more than a geographical area, it emerges as a cultural bridge, capable of connecting people, languages, and sensibilities through the universal power of music.
Romolo Ludovico Lanza had the opportunity to perform in venues such as Harpa in Reykjavik, Lindeman Hall in Oslo, Sala Verdi in Parma, University of Music and Performing Arts in Frankfurt, Iceland Academy of Arts, Vytautas Magnus University in Kaunas, University of Adger, Auditorium Del Carmine in Parma, Accademia di Romania in Rome.
Shaped by the guidance of Alberto Miodini, Mariangela Vacatello, Pierpaolo Maurizzi, Oliver Kern and Christopher Park, he also drew inspiration from working with renowned musicians like Marianna Shirinyan, Trio di Parma, Andrea Lucchesini, Filippo Gamba, Alexander Ullman, and Giampaolo Nuti.
He has given concerts for relevant festivals such as Festival Pontino in Sermoneta, Naarden International Piano Festival, Magnus Piano Week in Kaunas, Pordenone Piano City, Lecce Piano City, also collaborating with institutions such as the Italian Cultural Institute of Oslo and Institute Embajada de España en Noruega.
In 2025, Romolo launched Mediterraneo, bringing the magic of Chamber Music to the breathtaking shores and historic streets of his beloved hometown.
We are a collective of dreamers, all under the age of 30, who have chosen to invest in the transformative power of beauty. More than just an organizing committee, we are a mosaic of hearts beating in sync, driven by the unwavering belief that culture is the ultimate energy capable of regenerating a territory’s soul. Like a bridge stretched between the vibrant Mediterranean light and the serene atmospheres of the North, we represent a new generation that doesn’t just wait for the future, we design it today through the universal language of chamber music.
Every note that will resonate among the ancient stones of Taranto and the crystal-clear waters of the Pulsano sea is a fragment of our vision: a ‘Bridge’ of sounds and encounters connecting diverse cultures and generations. We believe in the warmth of a community that reunites around art, and our greatest wish is for you to feel the same excitement that keeps us awake at night dreaming of this festival. Walk with us through this second edition and the many chapters yet to be written: your support is the vital spark that transforms our hope into a vibrant, shared reality.
