ANNARIINA JOKELA
Annariina Jokela is a Finnish violist and pedagogue, currently serving as Lecturer of Viola and Head of the Viola Department at the Sibelius Academy, University of the Arts Helsinki. She studied at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater München, the Sibelius Academy of the University of the Arts Helsinki, and the Haute École de Musique de Sion with Professors Nils Mönkemeyer, Pirkko Simojoki, Lilli Maijala, and Tatjana Masurenko, and later served as a teaching assistant to Professor Mönkemeyer.
She is a prizewinner of several international competitions, including First Prize at the Finalis International Competition (Poland) and the International Luigi Zanuccoli Competition (Italy), as well as receiving distinctions at the International Szymon Goldberg Competition in Germany and in Finland’s national competitions.
As a soloist, Jokela has performed with orchestras such as the Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra, Saimaa Sinfonietta, and Hamburger Camerata among others, and regularly appears at festivals including Kuhmo Chamber Music and Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. She performs on a Jean-Baptiste Vuillaume viola, generously on loan from the Finnish Cultural Foundation.
