JOANNA HANHIKOSKI

Joanna Hanhikoski is a Finnish cellist currently based in Oslo. A dedicated chamber musician, she has performed at numerous festivals in Finland and abroad, and has recorded for Alba Records, including chamber music by P. H. Nordgren. A prizewinner at the XIV International Cello Competition in Turku, she has appeared as a soloist with the Turku Philharmonic Orchestra, the Ostrobothnian Chamber Orchestra, and the Bläserphilharmonie Regensburg, and regularly performs with orchestras across the Nordic countries.

Growing up surrounded by Finnish folk music, she continues to draw inspiration from a wide range of musical and artistic influences. She is also engaged in interdisciplinary and socially oriented artistic projects, and is a member of the Klimatkvartetten string trio, which combines art and science. The trio’s work is supported by the Kone Foundation.

Originally from Central Ostrobothnia in Finland, her musical path has taken her through the art universities of Helsinki and Munich to Oslo, where she is completing her studies at the Norwegian Academy of Music with Torleif Thedéen. She graduated from the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki in 2025 and has been selected as one of the young artists of the upcoming summer season.
