Birk Landaas (b. 2002) is a Norwegian violinist from Oslo. He has performed at leading international festivals, including the Verbier Festival (VFJO), the Moritzburg Festival Academy, and the newly established Mediterraneo Chamber Music Festival. An active chamber musician, soloist, and orchestral player, he has appeared on stages across Europe.
In 2019, he served as concertmaster of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra Young, leading performances at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and Flagey in Brussels. He joined the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester for an extensive ten-week European tour in 2022, as well as their summer tour in 2025. In Oslo Cultural Night in 2024 he appeared as a soloist with Oslo Chamber Orchestra in Atterberg Suite, sharing the stage with violist Henninge Landaas. In 2026 he is doing an internship with Oslo Sinfonietta, a music ensemble specializing in contemporary music.
Birk is in demand as a violin substitute with major Norwegian orchestras and performs regularly with ensembles such as the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra and Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra. He has participated in masterclasses with distinguished musicians including Boris Garlitsky, Heime Müller, and Philippe Graffin.
He completed his Bachelor’s degree in violin performance at the Norwegian Academy of Music in 2025, where he studied with Professor Elise Båtnes. He is currently pursuing a Master’s degree at the same institution under the guidance of Professor Peter Herresthal.
