Romolo was born in Taranto, the city of two seas. He began his piano studies at a young, under the guidance of his father, Cosimo Damiano Lanza and and subsequently continued his bachelor's studies with Alberto Miodini, Mariangela Vacatello, and Pierpaolo Maurizzi at the "A.Boito" Conservatory in Parma, where he graduated with top honors. He completed his Master studies at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Frankfurt am Main, supported by a scholarship, with Oliver Kern and then in the class of Christopher Park at the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo. He has had the opportunity to refine his skills with renowned artists such as Marianna Shirinyan, Andrea Lucchesini, Trio di Parma, Filippo Gamba, Alexander Ullman, Riccardo Risaliti, Roberto Cappello, and Giampaolo Nuti.
His repertoire ranges different stylistic epochs, with a particular fondness for Johannes Brahms and a strong interest in the contemporary scene. In addition, his interest in all art forms influences his constant work with the repertoire, which has often led him to make a connection with literature, visual art, and dance.
His solo and chamber music career sees him involved in concerts and projects throughout Europe. He has given concerts for important festivals such as Festival Pontino in Sermoneta, Mediterraneo Chamber Music Festival, Naarden International Piano Festival, Magnus Piano Week in Kaunas, Pordenone Piano City, Lecce Piano City, also collaborating with institutions such as the Italian Cultural Institute of Oslo, Comites and Embajada de España en Noruega.
Among many, he has had the opportunity to perform in venues such as Harpa in Reykjavik, Bij Andreas in Naarden, Sala Verdi in Parma, Lindeman Hall in Oslo, Forstandenskapsalen in Oslo, Frogner Kultursenter in Lillestrom, Kulturhuset Banken in Lillehammer, University of Music and Performing Arts in Frankfurt, Iceland Academy of Arts, Vytautas Magnus University in Kaunas, University of Adger, Casa della Musica in Parma, Auditorium Del Carmine in Parma, Accademia di Romania in Rome, Salone degli Specchi in Taranto.
In 2024 and 2025 he received support from Tom Wilhemsen’s Foundation for projects and carrier support. His activity as an organizer prompted him to devise, between 2019 and 2021, a concert season within the Conservatory of Parma, Les Concerts Du Cloître, from 2024 the Masterclass series Vie Nuove for the Accademia Musicale Mediterranea in Taranto and from 2025 Mediterraneo Chamber Music Festival, of which he is the Art Director. Since 2025, he serve as Head Producer for the International Music Competition for Youth Dinu Lipatti, in Rome.
He worked for TUP (Talent Program) at the Norwegian Academy of Music, teaching young students from all over the country. He is currently piano professor at Oslo International Piano Academy.
Romolo has been chosen for the 2026 'Pianist of the Week' residency in Bergen. He will be performing Grieg’s piano pieces this August at Troldsalen (Troldhaugen's Edvard Grieg Museum).
He lives in Oslo, and has a great passion for Italian Neorealist cinema.
